Recreational Therapy

Recreational therapy utilizes a wide range of interventions and techniques to improve the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and leisure needs of the client. The goal of recreational therapy is to restore, remediate or rehabilitate in order to improve function and independence.

 

Activities of Daily Living

Assisting with activities of daily living are basic self care tasks, they include:

  • Feeding

  • Bathing Toileting

  • Dressing

  • Grooming

  • Incontinent Care

  • Walking & Transferring

 

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living

Assisting with instrumental activities of daily living include:

  • Managing Finances

  • Handling Transportation

  • Shopping

  • Meal Preperation

  • Managing Medications

  • House Work & Basic Home Maintainence

 

Activity Planning 

A care plan is put in place to assess the needs and abilities of each client. For Alzheimer's clients there are memory games and programs to improve cognitive function. Some clients enjoy parks, museums, churches, sporting events, or just volunteering in the community.

 

Pet Therapy

Pets are not only good companions for seniors, they have also shown to improve senior citizens health. In fact, there are actually scientific results that the physical and mental benefits that came from a furry friend are undeniable. Over the long term, pet and human interactions can lower cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, fight depression and may even protect against heart disease and stroke. This is why pet therapy for seniors can be so beneficial.

 

Overnight Care

For individuals who are uncomfortable being at home alone at night or family members who want the security of having a caregiver in the home of a loved one at night. Caring Home Care offers an overnight home care assistance service. Depending on the client's needs, shifts vary in length from 8 to 12 hours a night.

 

Pet Care

Assisting with all aspects of caring for pets include the following:

  • Feeding

  • Walking

  • Waste Removal

  • Interaction and Play Time
